How do I get a FREE library card?
Present 2 forms of identification with your Lawrence County address. If you do not have identification with your current address, a card will be mailed to you to verify your address.  If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must provide identification and sign the application.  Fill out an application & present it with identification when you visit the Library, and a card with full borrowing privileges will be issued.

What are my privileges and responsibilities as a borrower?
You MUST present your library card or identification whenever you wish to check out library materials. You are responsible for the return of all materials charged to your card and any fines/fees associated with items on your account. You must notify the Library if your card is lost or stolen to prevent unauthorized use. Parents/guardians are responsible for guiding their children’s selection of library materials and are also financially responsible for items checked out on their child’s card.  Lost/damaged items include a $5 processing fee, with $10 maximum fine.

What kinds of resources are available at the Library?

What are the loan periods for circulating materials?
Most materials are loaned for 21 days.  Adult and children’s feature film DVDs are loaned for 7 days, and there is a $1 charge for the adult DVDs.  Non-fiction DVDs have no charge and are loaned for 21 days.  “On Reserve” titles (those with a hold from another patron) have a 14 day loan.

Can I renew materials?
Most materials can be renewed up to 2 times provided there are no holds on the item.  Materials may be renewed by telephone (724-658-6659 ext. 107) or online.

What if I cannot find the item I am looking for?
Titles not found on the shelves may be placed on hold; this can be done by our circulation staff or online.  You will be called/emailed when the title is ready for you.  If our Library does not own the desired item, you can request it from another library through Interlibrary Loan.
