NCPL Book Talk

Go Set a WatchmanNCPL Book Talk meets the 1st Monday of each month at 9:30 am in the Copernicus Room.  The next meeting is Monday, October 5th at 9:30 am, where the book Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee will be discussed.  Next month’s title is Open by Andre Agassi.  If you want to read ahead, a full list of titles to be discussed is available at the Circulation Desk.

Friends of the Library Indoor Yard Sale!yard sale

The yard sale will be held in the Copernicus Room on the first floor on Friday, October 23rd from 9:00 am-4:30 pm and on Saturday, October 24th from 9:00 am-1:00 pm. Donations for the sale will be accepted beginning on Monday, October 19th at 10:00 am. NO clothing or shoes will be accepted.

Author Talk, Book Signing & Zombie Walk

Author C.J. Sosa, in costume as a zombie, will be on hand on Saturday, October 31st at 11:00 am to talk about her book, “I Feel Like a Zombie But I Wish I Was Dead.” Come dressed as a zombie and participate in the “zombie walk” throughout the library! Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.

Mark your calendars for this event on Saturday, November 7th from 10:00 am-4:00 pm. Bring your treasures and collectibles for a verbal identification and appraisal by the experts from the Robert D Retort Auction Firm. 1 item=$3.00 ; 2 items=$5.00 ; Up to 5 items=$10.00.

New Castle Public Library Planning Festival of Trees Fundraiser


The New Castle Public Library will be sponsoring the Festival of Trees during the Thanksgiving weekend, November 27, 28, 29.   The festival will be held at the Neshannock Township School District.

The event will include dynamically decorated Christmas trees, craft booths, and entertainment.   The committee is currently seeking tree donors and crafters for the craft sales booths.

 The festival will be modeled after the Festival of Trees that was held in New Castle for many years to support the former St. Francis Hospital.  The last Festival of Trees was held in 2000.  For more information contact the organizers at tree…@ncdlc.org

New Castle City Directories NOW ONLINE! FULL-TEXT SEARCHABLE from 1872-1928

We are pleased to present our newest digital collections! Along with the Lawrence County Historical Society, we have digitized our oldest City of New Castle, Lawrence County, telephone, farm, and regional directories! Please take the time to view and search them and fill out our survey! We will be constantly updating these collections to help you find information more efficiently, so check back often.
