Books

Newest Titles List

Choose from a wide selection of Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography, and Reference books. Check out our bestsellers and new books on your way in. We also have Large Print Books and Oversized Coffee Table Books. Browse the stacks or use our catalog to locate what you need. Most titles are loaned for three weeks; however, popular titles may have a seven day loan. Books can be renewed if you need more time and if no one is waiting to read that title. Please ask for help if you do not know how to find something.

Books on Tape and CD

Non-fiction books on tape are shelved with the circulating non-fiction collection. Books on CD are located on display in the back of the library. Please ask for assistance if you are having trouble finding something.

DVDs and Videocassettes

Newest DVDs

Our DVD collection is now classified by genre! Check out the newest releases or take home an old favorite. We have Comedies, Mysteries, Dramas, Classics, Action, and Foreign films. We also have a variety of educational and biographical DVDs. There is a $1 charge for feature DVD films for a seven day loan!

Also, find our educational VHS tapes shelved with the circulating non-fiction collection.

Music CDs

Our CD collection is divided into categories such as Classical, Pop/Rock, Jazz/Blues, Country/Folk, Christian, World, Soundtracks, Seasonal, and Miscellaneous. Take a browse and see what you can find!

Foreign Language Section

Have you ever wanted to learn a new language? From Spanish to Chinese, from Italian to French, we have what it takes to help you on your way. Our expanding collection includes audio kits, both with CDs and Cassettes, as well as a small selection of books written in various languages.

Junior Books

New Juvenile Titles List

On the second floor, we house our junior colllection. Find Picture Books, Easy Readers, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Biography, and Reference books. We also have a Holiday section, a Historical Collection of out-of-print books for the kid in all of us, and a Professional Collection for educators. If you need help finding something let us know!

Choose from a variety of CDs, Books on Tape and CD, Videocassettes, and DVDs.

Family Place

Our Family Place collection is located in the Junior Department on the second floor. Find books and videos on parenting and enjoying the first years of your child's life. Ask about getting involved in our Family Place workshop or click here for more information.

Young Adult Collection

Newest Teen Titles

We have the newest, coolest, books for young adults! See our display as you get off the elevator. Ranging from Romance to Graphic Novels, we have something for you to take home. Also, we have the resources you need to choose a college, take the SATs, and make all those tough decisions. Or, if you just need some music to listen to, we have a bit of that, as well! Check us out!

Genealogy/History Room

We are renowned for our historical and genealogical materials. Visit our page to see what we have to offer. Ask one of our staff when you need help finding the answers to those hard questions.

Government Documents

Designated as a Federal depository library in 1963, the New Castle Public Library receives Federal publications issued by the three branches of government. The library serves the informational needs of the 4th U.S. Congressional District. Access to these publications is provided free of charge to the public. The library selects approximately 24% of the government publications made available to them. Contact us for more information.
